Going, going….
22nd January 2018
(Above)Â Once again – the wet footprints leaving Aberarder never a good sign of things to come…..
(Above) Cn Napanan – a bit of a contrast from two days ago (see blog of 20th). I had thought about traversing to the col, but that thought passed fairly quickly!
(Above) Balloon Gully, on the side of Coire Ardair main track, coming down from the Cairn Liath ‘plateau’ – still holding enough snow for a decent ski descent. An early bird team in front got the best of the day – a good effort and from their tracks they seemed to have got the best of the snow ,which was getting wetter by the minute for me…
(Above) The Post Face – or at least what I could see of it through the mist, rain, cloud at today’s pit site, on the side slopes of Coire a Chriochairein. (Thought I’d best try and add a bit of colour!)
(Above) The home run out of the coire and a little bit of visibility returned. The weather man now tells us a sustained thaw will remove the last of the wet snow from Aberarder – no more wet footprints to start the day …..gone!

Always a very sad sight when a good dump of snow thaws before it can consolidate.
I think that in 10 days hence order will be restored. (Well I hope so)
