(Above) The nervous nerve centre – our Scottish National Heritage (SNH) supported base at Aberarder Farm. A freshly covered Sron a Choire in the background.
(Above) Sron a Ghoire . The high NE gullies (below the long flat skyline ridge) seemed like a reasonable venue for the day….
….or perhaps not!
(Above) The opposite side, above the Coire Ardair path and the sky is blue and clear -Â the lower slopes however, towards Cairn Liath are still fairly thinly covered (and I was on skis!)
(Above) Most of my day spent surrounded by hill fog – this view looking towards Coire a Chriochairein, above the Sron a Choire tree slopes
(Above) A distant peer towards the Post Face of Coire Ardair – shrouded in cloud for most of the day, the crags under a mantle of fresh. NB All main gully lines still very limited build up – particularly in lower sections.
……yesterday was a ‘CPD’ day for me – in the company of our latest cadre of trainee SAIS Forecasters, as we were put through our paces by our Met Office gurus – Colin and Mike…….
I always find myself coming away from these sessions eternally grateful that it’s our Met office boffins who press the big computers – whilst all we have to do – is go and poke the snow!
Thanks guys my head now nicely cooled down from a day in the snow 🙂
