Sparse and diminishing cover. I speculate that you could, without too much deviation, do the ’round’ (Carn Liath – The Window – Creag Meagaidh summit – Sron a Ghoire) in bendy boots without stepping on to snow. There may be some slight hyperbole there but not much! Late February. Who’d’ve thought? (Health Warning: stiffer winter boots, crampons, ice axe etc. definitely required if venturing onto steeply inclined snow. Also, weather conditions can change suddenly so be prepared with correct clothing, equipment etc.. I know. You already knew that.)
(Above) The main car park at Creag Meagaidh. Not quite full this morning but getting there (more cars out of shot). Many other roadside parking spots in our area were also pretty busy, no doubt due to the fine hill-walking conditions! Quite a few cyclists around, too.

(Above) Looking west towards the easternmost outliers of the Grey Corries. Loch Laggan bottom left and Ben Nevis on far right skyline. Better snow cover on the east-facing aspects of these mountains; their western, windward flanks probably blacker/greener.
(Above) Looking east to the west-facing, windward aspects of the Glen Feshie hills and (right to left) Cairn Toul, Angel’s Peak and the broad rump of Braeriach’s rolling plateau. No doubt there’s somewhat more snow on east-facing aspects over there in the Cairngorms. (See the monument visible in the centre, bottom third of the photo? Points for correctly identifying it, people. Points don’t mean prizes, unfortunately.)

Literally swamped by responses from our follower(s). Yes, that’s the one. The monument is sited on Creag Ruadh nr the A889 between Laggan and Catlodge.

I’ll go with the Ewen Macpherson monument near Laggan. Had to look up the name but knew where it was.
Maybe I’ll go find it when I am up next week, give me something better to do than wonder where the snow and ice have gone.
