(Above) A glimpse of the upper end of Coire Ardair. A wet day at most levels after overnight snowfall up high. Poor visibility during showers which passed through one after the other in quick succession. The trees provided some welcome contrast but no shelter on a day like this.
(Above) Some avalanche activity today here on Sron a Ghoire. Look for two tongues of debris left of centre of the photo. Both loose snow events and occurred at 1000hrs today after the fairly recently formed snow there lost cohesion due rain and milder temperatures. Both small Size 1 avalanches. I’d be surprised if there isn’t evidence of bigger events up at the business end of Coire Ardair as well.
(Above) A mountain bicyclist was out again this morning, quite early, too, but turned back 200m or so after the juvenile birch. Wise move!
Poor Quality Mountain Day. But you already knew that.
