2014/15 winter kicks off with snow…quite a lot.

11th December 2014

Pretty snowy this morning nr Kingussie.

Pretty snowy at home this morning nr Kingussie.

The drive to 'Meggie was also pretty challenging on mostly white roads.

This is the path up Coire Ardair just where the juvenile birch ends.

The path up Coire Ardair just where the juvenile birch ends.

Challenging conditions all round today from my front door onwards.

Deep snow on the Coire Ardair track, deep enough to repel all except those on skis or snowshoes. 50 cm deep snow on the path where the young birch ends & much deeper  beyond there. Pretty much continuous snowfall all day, too.

Very slabby and not pleasant on steep ground at 600m!

So your walk in starts today. I look froward to future reports and rather jealous of your office!

We are fortunate I know but it’s not always white and snowy at Meggie. When it’s lashing with rain here perhaps we could swap offices! (Actually, on second thoughts..).
      Many thanks for your comment.

Thanks for the report! Meggie looks like it caught some solid accumulations compared to the coast.

Yes, very wintry on Thursday. Another sustained plastering on Friday as well.
Access again compromised by deep snow.
      Many thanks for your comment.
