Cornices

8th February 2011

(Above) Plenty of pretty big cornices around at the moment and most are recent and fragile. Centre Post has one – top R of centre – whilst not rare it’s pretty uncommon.
(Above) Top end of Easy Gully. A large piece of cornice crashed down leaving a sizeable pile of debris at the top of the gully in the last thaw. New cornice has already re-formed in its place.
(Above) Cornices are continuous from Centre Post right around via The Pipes, Diadem/The Wand & Cinderella to The Window. The one overhanging Cinderella is very large. (Click on the photo for more detail).

The forthcoming meltdown will see a lot of these collapse, so well worth giving places below them a wide berth for the time being.
