Eclipsed on Beinn a Chaorainn (….so near yet so far, Lochaber…)

20th March 2015

Managed (just!) to photograph the eclipse this morning in a clearing in the woods en route to Beinn a Chaorainn. The clouds broke just enough to see the spectacle but with sufficient mistiness to allow the camera to capture the images without resorting to manual controls or special lens filters.

Beinn a Chaorainn. The 'other' east ridge (we call it South Ridge) - the site of today's formal snow pit.

No new snow today – at least not whilst out doing observations. Moist, stable snowpack with odd pockets of thin old windslab on some NW to NE aspects above about 900m.
