High Pressure Building

6th January 2018

(Above) A fine , cold and a mostly clear day – just a little bit of cloud hanging around summits as I made my way towards Coire Ardair. Skis useful for access again today, with variable drifting even at lower elevations.

(Above) Coire a Chriochairein – under a fresh mantle of snow

(Above) New wind blown deposits shifting around throughout the day – giving very varied accumulations in high, sheltered lee areas.

(Above) Sron a Ghoire on opposite side of Coire Ardair -  many ridgeline slopes scoured

(Above) Fresh slab cracking easily underfoot today, on Westerly aspects

(Above) The Post Face today – under a fresh cover, but not any great build up as yet;  some slab around, particularly on likes of  the ramp of Staghorn (leading to base of The Pipes, right of photo.)
