Drifting & deep snow

5th February 2013

Have had a couple of days off whilst Keith was out on the hill at Meggie. Phoned him yesterday to ask whether skis would be OK today & he thought maybe but I decided against them. Q.good decision since we had rain at lower levels this morning and my skins would have balled up no end. There has been a lot of shower activity in the last 24hrs, most of it snow, and the weather in general has been pretty wild. The path up Coire Ardair has drifted over in places but not the section through the young birch (above) and was the only place for a photography due to rain, wind, snow  (in that order) on the hill. Deep drifts have formed in all lee areas and stability poor in those steeper places. Outlook is decidedly wintry again.
