Cornices ‘seracs’ and creep lines

5th April 2014

(Above) Meall Coire Choillie-rais
Small cliff lines still holding pockets of snow at relatively low elevations (around 750m)

Collapsing cornices and cliff ‘serac’  features clearing slopes below in places to bed surface with the resulting entrained  heather, rock, ice & dirt debris

This old debris often not small – definitely car crash size if passing!

(Above) Slumping and creep lines on slope convexities – slightly cooler conditions on the way which will slow development a little at higher elevations but the various remaining cornices now at end of season only going the one way – down!
