Wintry and windy
2nd March 2015
A snowy picture this morning on the way to Creag Meagaidh
Fortunately some of the SNH staff were going out to see where the deer might be given that the recent snow will have driven them down the hill. So I got a lift part way up the hill.
A brief glimpse of  a windy and snowy Sron a’Ghoire. The avalanche on the right hand side of the picture probably happened during Saturday night’s thaw when the freezing level rose dramatically combined with rain.

More and more snow! There is a sizable avalanche on the south face of Carn Dubh that’s rather hidden away which I noted on 28.2.15. The corries there are often over looked but are well worth a visit.

Hi Grant,
Thanks for the info. Please use the SAIS main website portal to report the details of the avalanche/avalanche debris you observed – it’s bottom right of the opening page. Really helps us!

Some debris from a small slide on the east face of Na Cnapanan (spot height 623m) at GR 477889 seen on Monday 2nd . Photo available if required. I imagine it will be filled in like the big one on Sron a Ghoire by now. We saw you making fast progress up the hill on Monday ;-).

Hi Donald,
Many thanks for logging the avalanche on the SAIS public portal. Great photo, too!
Yes indeed, the Argocat is a very fine machine! Who needs legs?!
