Sunny Sunday
5th April 2015
Early mist soon cleared to leave a warm sunny day. There was some wet snow avalanche activity as well as ice and cornice collapse.

Massive snow loss on lover slopes but still plenty of fun to be had. I went to the west coast today and surprised just how much snow is stlll around on Skye although not a patch of what Meggie has.

We camped by the reservoir in Glen Shirra on Saturday night and heard an avalanche around 11pm. As we drove past on the A889 on our way home on Sunday night, we noticed a slide on the SW face of Geal Charn (Beinn Sgiath) and wondered if that was what we had heard.

Hi Stu,
Thanks for your comment and info. It’s entirely possible there was some avalanche activity on east aspect of Beinn Sgiath on Saturday night. The slope you refer to is a member of our full-depth avalanche ‘Frequent Flyers’ club! There’s been a fair amount of activity there this season, in particular in early March. The massive crownwall that’s visible there now has been around for a month or so and chunks have continued to trundle off the southern end of it ever since.
