A lot more trees since I was last there! Are they natural or planted?

      Hi Stan,

Yes, the trees have come on a lot in recent years and are all naturally seeded.

In the distant past browsing by deer limited the regeneration of the natural birch woods at ‘Meggie. SNH’s carefully balanced deer control measures have reduced the browsing damage to young saplings so that now many more survive into maturity. The change in natural hardwood tree cover at Creag Meagaidh has been quite remarkable since SNH first took over the estate.

You need to revisit the place and see for yourself, Stan!

      Many thanks for your comment.
