Camera Handy…..!?

13th February 2017

A frustrating day for the camera; cloudy for much of the time, in the morning, clearing only with my descent off the hill……. seemed like every time I reached for the camera the clouds rolled in!.

(Above) Coire Ardair – Btm of Easy gully (central in photo)  raking left, in front of the Post Face and behind the bulk of Pinnacle Buttress

(Above) Btn of Raeburn’s Gully (left of photo)

Neither of these two classic Grade 1 gullies holding snow of any quantity in the current conditions

(Above) The skyline between Sron a Coire and  Puist Coire Ardair – making an appearance at last!

Cover is very variable at present – small pockets of slab overlie a softer layer, this above seen on mainly NW aspects

(Above) Descending and looking East towards Loch Laggan – the marked snowline at around 500m, just below the col of Na Cnapanan (623) the outrigger to the South of the munroe, Cairn Liath (1006m).
