VisitScotland. A missed opportunity?

12th January 2018

(Above) Leaden skies and misty to start the day. Low lying ground at glen level still frozen this afternoon when coming off the hill. Descending Sron a Ghoire towards Aberarder and Loch Laggan.

(Above) Sneak peek at the east ridge of Beinn a Chaorainn from the A86 this afternoon. Just emerging from mist.

(Above) Cheered up quite a lot at home time. The view west along Loch Laggan from nr Kinloch Laggan. Ice visible on the loch and some snow still lying on the sandy beach (out of sight), too, which is an interesting juxtaposition. Great setting for a VisitScotland winter advert? The kinda thing where some photogenic & impossibly beautiful twenty-somethings cavort around in vaguely inappropriate city clothing in some unlikely setting at the wrong time of year. Cue: gaelic mood music and the slow declaiming of a handful of touchy-feely phrases (and trying, but failing, not to introduce the occasional accidental double entendre).

Ahh…already been done. How stupid of me to forget.

We see her around all the time in the winter mountains of the North West – looking for her tammie….
