Winter is up high!

23rd December 2018

(Above) The eastern end of our patch this morning. Looking towards Carn Dubh and Stob Coire Dubh just as the mist is starting to lift. Thin new cover of fresh snow above 900m.

(Above) The south top of Beinn a Chaorainn this morning. A hint of blue sky here but it clouded over later.

(Above) The steep coire immediately south of Beinn a Chaorainn’s East Ridge. Thin snow cover up high here. Coire Ardair and it immediate environs have somewhat better cover and more pronounced windslab tucked up high on coire rims and gully exits but even so it is still relatively localised.

(Above) Further round the coire: Beinn a Chaorainn’s East ridge. A rock scramble just now but with something of a wintery feel in it’s upper section.

(Above) The hills to the south of our area and on the other side of the A86. Snow line here also around 900m.

(Above) Low level mist didn’t clear until later in the day
