Moist snow

19th March 2019

(Above) Looking towards Pinnacle Buttress and the snowy Post Face from across Lochan a Choire. Poor visibility again today meant limited opportunities for the camera.

The thaw is now well established at ‘Meggie. Most of our recent snow is now moist at all levels though drier, colder snow persists at depth in deeper accumulations. A minor snow slide observed today at 11am from a ledge on Pinnacle Buttress. The Post Face has much more snow and many more ledges from which some could slide off in the sustained thaw. Snow at lower altitudes and on less steep ground showing better consolidation in most places.
