The ‘Scottish Experience’

14th March 2019

(Above) Eutopia? – The pot of gold in the offing at Aberader to start my day (Hmmm!!)

(Above) The ‘Full Scottish’ on offer – rain to start, then sleet, snow and strong winds, Photo looking over to Sron a Ghoire from the Cairn Liath side (of  my ‘Eutoipa’). Apologies – the camera (me) not quite dealing with it all….

(Above) The upper slopes of Sron a Ghoire (where some brave souls had headed in search of skiable snow. There certainly was some – up high, although….. rain, sleet, snow, winds………)

(Above) Coire a Chriochairein just appearing in another break between the showers – behind the snowy slopes of the Min Window.

(Above) Today’s pit – a fairly soggy affair at around 750m on a SE aspect. A couple of old (and now wet) graupel layers within (just about visible – screen slide and at base). This graupel a likely contributor in recent avalanche events on Easterly aspects…… Everything a bit more consolidated now with the fluctuating temps.

(Above) A final ‘look back’ from the path on the way home. All quite snowy again up high. It didn’t seem such a bad day (from the photos) …… remember camera only comes out when it’s nice!
