Damp

14th December 2021

As predicted today was somewhat damp with rain and drizzle throughout….sometimes it’s difficult to put a positive spin on things!!

(Above) Beinn a Chaorainn’s East ridge not overly inviting today; in fact I do believe I had it all to myself!

(Above) The East bowls of Beinn a Chaorainn providing some interest for the day; with some new overnight wet snow events – here on a steep Easterly aspect at around 800m.

(Above) The debris was a mixture of old (rain on snow event,11th Dec) and new – overnight event, early today. Again a transitional instability with rain on snow, bringing down some cornice material, entrained with wet underlying snow and the occasional rock for good measure – not pleasant stuff to find yourself engulfed in! The snowpack although moist is now generally consolidated and stable
