‘Abandon hope, ye who enter here’

25th January 2022

(Above) The view from the summit of The Window down into the Inner Coire of Coire Ardair and onward to Lochan a Choire. ‘A picture paints a thousand words‘? This one definitely overstates the snow cover we have at Creag Meagaidh at the moment. Yes, bigger patches are present in hollows, favoured accumulation zones on high plateaux (above 950m) and in a few N to E-facing gullies down to 750m but cover elsewhere is poor. And it’s expected to recede more after Wednesday’s persistent rain and mild temperatures.

Wild swimming advisory: water temperature in Lochan a Choire was +2.8 degrees C. on Tuesday morning.
