Wet and windy normal service resumed.

20th February 2022

A wet and windy day. Overnight the temperature had gone above the summits for 4-5 hours, with rain. During daylight hours the temperature slowly dropped with snow falling to around 800m. The objective today was to try and see if any wet snow instability releases had happened last night. Poor visibility didn’t help, and looking into the Post Face was inconclusive. Coire a Chriochairein, could be seen well though, and there was no sign of any releases.

Overnight tonight the forecast is for a fair amount of fresh snow above 700m on strong Westerly, veering North-Westerly winds. This has the potential to give a fair amount of fresh windslab on North-East through to South aspects above 800m as detailed in the forecast.

Looking across to a gloomy Post face.

No overnight releases on Sron a Choire

No obvious overnight releases in Coire a Chriochairein.
