A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

3rd April 2023

I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

(Above) Not a bad backdrop for a selfie.

(Above) Easy Gully below the steep Post Face of Coire Ardair.

(Above) ‘Cinderella’ – a low-grade gully in the Inner Coire of Coire Ardair.

(Above) ‘The Window’, the high bealach above the Inner Coire.

(Above) The view down from the Inner Coire towards Lochan a Choire, Coire nan Gamhna (a sweet little glacial cirque), and the steep north-facing crags to the east of Bellevue Buttress.

(Above) Coire a Chriochairein – enjoying its moment in the sun.

A bit of a refreeze up top early doors then milder after sun up. Good stability everywhere, which is no big statement given the paucity of the snow cover! One or two residual cornices remain over N to E aspects.

Beautiful day to be out. Some warmth in the sun but with a coolness to the air. Quite a lot of foot traffic on the main Coire Ardair path – mainly walkers on their pilgrimage to where the lofty snow-streaked crags meet the lochan.
